Ocasio-Cortez, Frost mock Times Square ad against her

Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) teamed up Wednesday to make fun of a new ad campaign against the New York City progressive, as Ocasio-Cortez faces a Democratic primary challenge.

The conservative Job Creators Network activist group backed Ocasio-Cortez’s primary opponent with a Times Square billboard attacking her as weak on crime and immigration and unsuccessful at bringing jobs.

Ocasio-Cortez laughed off the campaign, pointing out that Manhattan isn’t even in her congressional district.

“D-Margaritaville,” Ocasio-Cortez joked in a social media post, referring to the Jimmy Buffett-themed restaurant with a Times Square location.

Frost piled on, adding in a reply, “That’s over here.”

The billboard is part of a six-figure ad spend for Job Creators Network in favor of Wall Street investor Marty Dolan. It’s the first time the group has backed a Democrat, the New York Post reported.

“AOC is a threat to American small businesses and America’s way of life,” Job Creators Network CEO Alfredo Ortiz told the Post. “Her policies are responsible for the crime, migrant, and economic crises burdening her constituents in New York and around the nation.”

“Democrat Marty Dolan is a much-needed voice of moderation that will help small businesses and working families in New York City and beyond,” he added. “New York City residents looking to stop the bleeding and undo AOC’s damage should vote for Dolan now.”

Dolan is a long-shot primary challenge to the third-term lawmaker. She has raised nearly $8 million for her reelection, according to federal filings, while Dolan has raised just $80,000.
