Biden, Clintons raise $8M at Virginia fundraiser

President Biden, joined by former President Bill Clinton and former first lady Hillary Clinton, raised more than $8 million Tuesday evening at a fundraiser in Virginia.

The fundraiser was held at the home of former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D) and included 450 attendees. In three events since Friday, the campaign has pulled in more than $40 million, including the $8 million haul, according to the campaign.

The fundraiser in the Old Dominion State with the Clintons follows a star-studded Hollywood fundraiser with former President Obama last weekend, which brought in $30 million for the Biden’s reelection bid.

During the Virginia event, the president warned the group about another term with former President Trump in office.

“The next president could have possibly two or more Supreme Court justices in the next four years. That would mean if Trump wins, there will be five or more … Supreme Court Justices that can determine the future in decades to come,” Biden said, repeating a prediction he has made before. “We can’t let that happen.”

He also called Trump a convicted felon, which has become a staple of his campaign speeches.

The incumbent’s campaign has been leaning into calling the former president a felon, suggesting it believes that reminding voters often enough will pay off at the polls in November, as the presumptive party nominees inch closer to a rematch.

“Folks, for the first time in American history, a former president is a convicted felon and is now seeking the office of the presidency,” the president said.
