Trump on Jost: Colin bombed
Former President Trump took aim at “Saturday Night Live” star Colin Jost for his performance at the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) dinner over the weekend.
The former president criticized Jost and President Biden for their speeches at the star-studded WHCA dinner, which drew celebrities, journalists and lawmakers to the Washington Hilton Hotel.
“The White House Correspondents’ Dinner was really bad. Colin Jost BOMBED, and Crooked Joe was an absolute disaster! Doesn’t get much worse than this!,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump notably did not attend the dinner throughout his time in office.
Jost and Biden poked fun at Trump — especially at his ongoing legal battles — during their remarks Saturday evening. The “Weekend Update” host kicked off his speech by taking a dig at Trump’s hush money trial, which began earlier this month in a Manhattan courtroom.
“Good evening, everyone, I’m Colin Jost, and I’ll be delivering the Republican response,” Jost quipped. “I’ll be honest with you, I don’t have a lot of time. I need to get back to New York because I’m juror number five on a big trial. Trump’s lawyer took one look at me, and he’s like, ‘He’s got to be on our side.’”
Jost also took shots at media outlets like the New York Times and Fox News, as well as Biden.
After showing clips on screen of Jost’s work as a young reporter in high school, the comedian poked fun at Biden over his age.
“You can’t do it for President Biden because the technology wasn’t invented when he was in high school,” Jost quipped. “It’s not really fair.”
Biden also took aim at Trump several times during the speech, referring to Trump as a “6-year-old” at one point.
“I’ve had a great stretch since the State of the Union. But Donald has had a few tough days lately. You might call it ‘stormy weather’,” Biden said, in reference to Stormy Daniels, who alleges she was paid to stay silent about an affair with Trump ahead of the 2016 election.
Trump is back in court this week for his New York hush money trial, where he faces 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection to reimbursements made to his ex-fixer, Michael Cohen, for a payment to Daniels.
