Maryland Senate candidate Angela Alsobrooks (D) released an ad Thursday featuring top Democrats from the Old Line State as she vies for the seat against Rep. David Trone (D-Md.) in the Democratic primary.

“We know Maryland,” says Gov. Wes Moore (D) in the ad, followed by Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), who says, “and we know Angela Alsobrooks is the right choice for Senate.”

“From investing in education to helping keep our community safe to defending our democracy and the right to vote standing up for a woman’s right to choose, we’re all supporting Angela because we know her record, and we believe in her vision,” say various Democrats throughout the ad, including Baltimore County Executive John Olszewski Jr., Reps. Kweisi Mfume and Jamie Raskin and Comptroller Brooke Lierman.

“We know Maryland,” Moore says in the ad. “And we know Angela is the Democrat who will win,” Van Hollen finishes in the ad.

Other Democrats endorsing Alsobrooks featured in the ad included state House Speaker Adrienne Jones, Reps. John Sarbanes and Steny Hoyer and Lt. Gov. Aruna Miller.

The Maryland Senate Democratic primary is May 14. Alsobrooks is running against Trone for outgoing Sen. Ben Cardin’s (D-Md.) seat. Whoever wins the primary will take on former Gov. Larry Hogan (R) in November.

Despite the high-profile endorsements, recent public polling has shown Trone faring better against Hogan in a head-to-head match-up than Alsobrooks and Hogan. Trone has also spent tens of millions of dollars in the primary.

Although Hogan is keeping what was supposed to be considered a relatively safe Senate seat now in play, the nonpartisan election handicapper Cook Political Report still rates the seat “likely Democrat.”
