Biden wins Connecticut Democratic primary

President Biden speaks at the annual Friends of Ireland Luncheon at the Capitol in Washington, D.C., on Friday, March 15, 2024.

President Biden was projected to win Connecticut’s Democratic primary, according to Decision Desk HQ.

Biden has already sailed past the delegate threshold he needed to win the party nomination, but his victory in the Constitution State could add as many as 60 more delegates into his column, according to a tracker from Decision Desk HQ/The Hill.

The incumbent also faced an “uncommitted” protest vote push, according to Connecticut Public Radio, the likes of which he’s faced in several other states as progressives express frustration with the administration over the Israel-Hamas war.

Biden is set to go up against former President Trump in the general election this November. The state has voted for Democratic presidential candidates across the last three decades, and Biden easily bested Trump in the state’s general election back in 2020.
