Scaramucci jokes Trump administration officials in ‘recovery unit’
Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci joked on Friday that he and other former Trump administration officials are in a “Trump recovery unit.”
“[L]et me just talk about my colleagues and friends, ‘cause we’re sort of like in this Trump recovery unit together, which would include [former Defense Secretary Mark Esper], [retired Gen. Mark Milley, former chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff],” Scaramucci said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Friday in a clip highlighted by Mediaite.
Scaramucci’s comments came in response to a question from host Joe Scarborough about why Scaramucci believes former President Trump is “such a danger to the Republic if he’s reelected.”
Scaramucci also talked about a “big” fight he had with Trump during his brief stint in the White House on the topic of “the institution of the presidency.”
“You know, we’re there to serve the people,” Scaramucci said. “It’s the only job in the country, as every one of us know, where all of the eligible voters get to vote on it, and therefore you’re president for everybody.”
“Mr. Trump doesn’t see it that way,” Scaramucci continued. “Mr. Trump sees it as a self-aggrandizement, grandstanding position, and you can make a little bit of money on the side, that’s fine as well.”
In an interview on CNN last week, Scaramucci labeled Trump the “most un-American presidential nominee in U.S. history.”
“We have to focus on Mr. Trump being the most un-American presidential nominee in U.S. history,” Scaramucci said in an interview on CNN’s “The Source” with host Kaitlan Collins. “And we have to go through the things that he’s saying he’s going to do, as it relates to being the American president.”
