Anti-Trump Republican group highlights Pence’s non-endorsement in new ad

An advocacy group opposing former President Trump’s reelection is launching a six-figure ad campaign to promote former Vice President Mike Pence’s decision not to endorse his old boss and two-time running mate.

Republican Voters Against Trump, which is backed by the Republican Accountability PAC, is pushing a digital ad and billboards to highlight Pence’s refusal to back Trump in November’s election.

“Mike Pence knows Donald Trump better than anyone else. And he knows how dangerous a second Trump administration would be. Mike Pence is putting country over party. And we will, too,” the 15-second digital ad says over footage of the two men appearing together, as well as a clip of Pence saying he won’t endorse Trump.

The ad will play digitally for one week in the battleground states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Billboards featuring Pence’s quote that he won’t be endorsing Trump will go up in major cities in the same states, including in Phoenix, Atlanta, Detroit, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, and Grand Rapids, Mich.

Pence, who ran an unsuccessful primary campaign against Trump that ended last October, announced last week he would not endorse his old boss. He cited their divisions over the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, as well as Trump’s policy positions on abortion, government spending and banning TikTok.

“Look, I’m incredibly proud of the record of our administration. It was a conservative record that made America more prosperous, more secure, and saw conservatives appointed to our courts in a more peaceful world,” Pence said. “But that being said, during my presidential campaign I made clear there were profound differences between me and President Trump on a range of issues.”
