Former President Trump is holding a narrow 4-point lead over President Biden in a new poll.

Forty-nine percent of registered voters in the CNN poll, conducted by SSRS, said they would be “more likely to vote” for Trump, while 45 percent said they would be “more likely to vote” for Biden.

In the same poll, 38 percent of respondents said they approve of “the way” Biden is “handling his job,” while 62 percent said they disapprove. Thirty-four percent also said the president “deserves to be” reelected, while 66 percent disagree.

Despite Trump’s lead in the poll among registered voters, 38 percent said they had a favorable opinion of the former president. Fifty-seven percent of registered voters said they have an unfavorable opinion of him.

The CNN/SSRS poll findings come in opposition to a recent Quinnipiac University national poll that found Biden 6 points ahead of Trump, 50 percent to 44 percent.

Trump holds a 2-point lead over Biden in a potential rematch, according to a polling average from The Hill and Decision Desk HQ.

Biden is looking toward South Carolina, which holds its Democratic primary Saturday, for a boost to his campaign. An endorsement from Rep. James E. Clyburn (D-S.C.) ahead of Biden’s win in the state in 2020 helped revive his campaign.

“I really believe that people are beginning to focus on things now, and by time we get to the primary election on [Feb. 3], I think that there’ll be a good turnout of voters and I think that Joe Biden would beat his number from New Hampshire,” Clyburn said in an interview with The Hill.

The CNN/SSRS poll was conducted Jan. 25-30 with 1,212 respondents and a margin of sampling error of 3.4 percentage points. There were 983 labeled respondents labeled as registered voters in the poll, with a sampling error of 3.8 percentage points for results among them.
