Trump knocks Cheney over ‘unhinged’ comments

Former President Trump took a swing at former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) early Wednesday morning.

“Crazy Liz Cheney, who may be responsible for destroying the evidence from the J6 Unselect Committee, making all cases, past and present, highly questionable, AT BEST, is suffering from a massive case of TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social. “She just lost her Congressional Seat by the largest margin EVER, now is desperately looking for something else to do. Her unhinged statements are becoming a THREAT TO DEMOCRACY!”

The former president appeared to be pushing back against recent comments by Cheney in which she warned against his reelection. On Monday, Cheney suggested that a vote for the former president could mean the final democratic election in the U.S.

“I hope that there are options and alternatives that reflect the important challenges that we’re facing — and that reflect leadership to meet those challenges — but that choice can never be Donald Trump, because a vote for Donald Trump may mean the last election that you ever get to vote in,” Cheney told NBC’s Savannah Guthrie on the “Today” show.

“And again, I don’t say that lightly. And I think it’s heartbreaking that that’s where we are, but people have to recognize that a vote for Donald Trump is a vote against the Constitution,” Cheney continued.

Cheney, who was one of the 10 House Republicans that voted to impeach the former president in the wake of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, has been doing rounds in the media to promote her new book “Oath and Honor: A Memoir and a Warning,” which was released Tuesday.
