Klobuchar raises $1 million online after announcing White House bid

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) raised more than $1 million in the 48 hours after she formally launched her Democratic presidential bid, her campaign announced Tuesday.

The campaign said in a news release that the senator received a donation from every state in the U.S. within 20 minutes of her announcement. The release did not disclose the average size of the donations Klobuchar received.

A spokesperson for Klobuchar’s campaign said Monday that the candidate will not take contributions from corporate political action committees. The move is in line with a number of other Democratic presidential hopefuls, including Sens. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), Kamala Harris (Calif.) and Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.).{mosads}

Klobuchar launched her campaign from snowy Minneapolis on Sunday, where supporters stood out in frigid temperatures to cheer her announcement. The three-term senator laid out her vision for the country in a number of policy areas, including a pledge to root out corporate money in politics.

The Minnesota senator joins Harris in announcing a major fundraising haul in the days after her formal campaign launch.

Harris’s campaign said it took in $1.5 million within 24 hours of her campaign launch last month. The California Democrat’s campaign said that haul came from more than 38,000 individual donors, with the average donation hovering at $37.
