Rep. Daniel Lipinski (D-Ill.) secured a seventh term in Congress on Tuesday, easily defeating self-avowed Nazi and Holocaust denier Art Jones in Illinois’s 3rd Congressional District.

Jones garnered more than 51,000 votes at the polls with 92 percent of precincts reporting while Lipinski garnered more than 143,000.

Lipinski’s victory was widely expected in the blue urban district, particularly after the Illinois Republican Party disavowed Jones as “a Nazi whose disgusting, bigoted views have no place in our nation’s discourse.”

{mosads}The party declined to challenge Jones’s candidacy or run a third-party candidate against him, saying it was a waste of resources in a district heavily favored for Democrats.

Jones, who once led the American Nazi Party, ran unopposed in the March primary.

Anti-abortion Democrat Lipinski will return to Congress in the same seat held by his father from 1983 to 2005.

Lipinski pulled off a narrow victory in the state’s Democratic primary, fending off a strong challenge from progressive candidate Marie Newman.
