Haley signs RNC pledge to back eventual GOP nominee

Presidential candidate and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley signed a pledge Wednesday required by the Republican National Committee (RNC) ahead of the first GOP debate saying she would support the eventual Republican nominee.

In signing it, Haley edited the title of the pledge to read as the “Beat President Harris Pledge” instead of the “Beat Biden Pledge” — a nod to her past remarks suggesting President Biden might not finish out a second consecutive term as president, opening up the role for Vice President Harris.

The news of Haley’s signing was first reported by Fox News Digital.

Haley is the latest candidate to sign the RNC’s pledge, which is the last step required for GOP candidates to participate in the first Republican presidential debate, which is slated for Aug. 23 in Milwaukee. Candidates also needed to meet polling and donor criteria to make the debate.

Other contenders to sign the pledge include Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. But former President Trump has pointedly refused to sign it.

“I wouldn’t sign the pledge,” Trump told Eric Bolling on Newsmax on Wednesday. “Why would I sign a pledge if there are people on there that I wouldn’t have? I wouldn’t have certain people as somebody that I would endorse.”

The former president also has yet to say whether he’ll be at the first GOP debate.

Trump told Bolling he hasn’t “totally ruled it out” on whether he’ll plan to attend but said he would announce his intentions next week.
