Grover Norquist: ‘You could look forward to a significant tax cut’
Anti-tax activist Grover Norquist spent election night hopping watch parties and media interviews.
The Americans for Tax Reform president got his first hint that President Trump might win while doing a television hit with Bloomberg.
{mosads}“It was clear from the tone of the reporters that something had gone wrong,” he said.
Norquist is a conservative, but had expected Hillary Clinton to prevail.
“I get my news from The New York Times and the three networks, so I thought that Trump was unlikely to win,” he said.
But Clinton’s situation kept deteriorating, and by 2:30 a.m., Norquist knew that Trump had won. Now he could make plans for a Republican-controlled White House and Congress.
“As soon as it became clear that Trump was going to win, you could look forward to a significant tax cut,” Norquist said.
