Trump campaign urging Americans to unite, donate to Harvey relief efforts
The Trump campaign is urging unity amid the devastation from Hurricane Harvey and calling for Americans to donate to relief efforts in Texas and Louisiana.
“The campaign wants to encourage all Americans to unite in this tragic moment as a nation to help our fellow Americans in need,” it said in a statement on Tuesday.
The call comes as President Trump heads to southern Texas to survey the damage from the historic storm. The president will visit the Corpus Christi area — one of the places hardest hit by hurricane — as well as Austin.
The Trump campaign is encouraging people to donate to the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army and the United Way, among other organizations:
American Red Cross – www.redcross.org; 800-RED-CROSS; or text the word HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

{mosads}“This is a time to come together as a nation to support those in need in the wake of this disaster and the unprecedented flooding they are experiencing in the greater Houston and coastal Texas region,” Lara Trump, the wife of the president’s son Eric Trump and a senior adviser to the Trump campaign, said in a statement.
“Americans are at their finest when our friends and neighbors are in need – and the need in Texas is great and will continue to be for a long time. Anyone who is able to support relief efforts should donate if they can,” she added.
