Trump raises $13M for reelection
President Trump hasn’t wrapped up his first 100 days in the White House, but his supporters are already thinking ahead to 2020.
Federal Election Commission records show the Trump Victory, Donald J. Trump for President and Trump Make America Great Again Committees raised more than $13 million in the first quarter of 2017 to support the president’s reelection campaign.
This early campaign money gives Trump a head start in the fundraising department compared to any Democratic opponent in the 2020 election, which could play to the president’s advantage.
{mosads}Much of the money was raised by selling Trump-branded merchandise such as T-shirts and red hats at the president’s inauguration in January.
Among other expenses, the Trump reelection committees also paid more than $4.7 million to manufacture the merchandise, according to Politico.
