Obama wins Nebraska, Washington caucuses

Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) on Saturday continued his dominance over Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) in Democratic caucuses, easily winning Nebraska’s and Washington’s nominating contest.

{mosads}With 73 percent of precincts reporting, Obama led with 69 percent of the vote over Clinton’s 31 in the Cornhusker States, where turnout was reported to be high. The Illinois senator had visited the state prior to the caucus and also received the support of Sen. Ben Nelson, the only Democrat of the state’s congressional delegation.

In Washington, Obama led with 67 percent over Clinton’s 32 percent with 42 percent of districts reporting.

It is unclear yet how many delegates each candidate will win. Democratic Party rules do not award the winner of a state all of its delegates, instead distributing them proportionally.
