Poll: Biden holds five-point lead over Warren among New York Democrats

Former Vice President Joe Biden holds a 5-point lead against Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) in a poll of New York Democrats.

Biden earned 22 percent of all votes in the poll, compared to Warren’s 17 percent. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) landed close behind Warren at 15 percent.

Warren and Sanders have been edging up behind Biden in national polls, but the former vice president has held on to the lead in most polls.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) received 4 percent of the votes, and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg (D) collected 3 percent.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) drew less than 1 percent of votes in his home state.

The majority of these voters are undecided, though as 34 percent said they didn’t know who they would vote for or refused to answer.

Biden also has the majority of African American votes from registered New York Democrats at 25 percent, with Sanders at 14 percent and Warren at 10 percent, which aligns with earlier polls. But 36 percent of registered African American Democrats didn’t know who they would vote for or refused.

The poll surveyed 798 registered Democratic voters in New York from Sept. 8 to 12. The margin of error is 4.1 percentage points.
