New CBS poll shows Biden with 7-point lead in New Hampshire

Joe Biden leads the field of Democratic White House hopefuls by 7 points in New Hampshire, according to a CBS poll released Sunday.

The former vice president is the top choice of 27 percent of likely Democratic primary voters in the Granite State.

Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), who both represent states neighboring New Hampshire, are in a close race for second at 20 percent and 18 percent, respectively.

{mosads}Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), at 12 percent, is the only other candidate polling in double digits in the first-in-the-nation primary state.

South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg (D) comes in at 7 percent support. Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas) and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) both registered 2 percent support, while no other of the over two dozen candidates cleared 1 percent.

CBS surveyed 530 registered Democrats in New Hampshire between July 9 and 18. The margin of error for the sample is plus or minus 5 points.

The results of Sunday’s poll widely line up with another one from New Hampshire from CNN, which last week found Biden leading, Sanders and Warren in tight competition for second and Harris and Buttigieg as the only other candidates with statistically meaningful support.

Both polls are significantly different from a Saint Anselm College survey which found Sanders at only 10 percent support and Harris much closer to Warren in third.
