Trump calls Barr a ‘swamp creature’ over criticism of election claims

Former President Trump fired back at William Barr on Tuesday, calling him a “swamp creature” over the former attorney general’s criticism of Trump’s false claims about last year’s election.

“I lost confidence in Bill Barr long before the 2020 Presidential Election Scam,” Trump said in a statement.

“Barr was a ‘swamp creature’ who was devastated when the Radical Left wanted to impeach him,” Trump added. “It takes a very strong and special person to go against the ‘mob’. Bill Barr was not that person.”

The former president’s remarks came in response to an excerpt from “Betrayal,” a book authored by ABC News chief Washington correspondent Jonathan Karl, in which Barr called Trump’s election fraud claims “bullshit.”

“If there was evidence of fraud, I had no motive to suppress it. But my suspicion all the way along was that there was nothing there. It was all bullshit,” Barr said in the book, due out in November.

Trump on Tuesday disputed Karl’s reporting, saying: “Jonathan Karl’s story on Slow Moving Bill Barr is made-up beyond any level imaginable. It is, in other words, Fake News!”

“The facts are rapidly coming out in States and Courts about the 2020 Presidential Election Scam, and let’s see if Bill Barr, a man who was unable to handle the pressure, was correct? The answer will be a resounding, NO!” he added.

Trump’s public criticism of Barr comes as the former president resumes political rallies. He held his first one over the weekend since leaving office, with several more planned for this summer.
