A new watchdog report found that an inspector general and other officials overseeing a federal housing agency abused their authority.
The report from the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency focuses on Laura Wertheimer, the inspector general for the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), and others in her office.
Investigators found that Wertheimer and other officials “abused their authority in the exercise of their official duties, and that IG Wertheimer engaged in conduct that undermines the integrity reasonably expected of an IG.”
