The White House on Tuesday posted a video to its official Twitter account taking a shot at The Washington Post for a story detailing what it called President Trump’s “lost summer.”
The tweet directly swiped at the Post, tagging the news outlet and including the caption, “is this what you call a ‘lost summer?’”
{mosads}The video features nearly two minutes of footage of Trump attending various events along with news clips praising the president for various accomplishments and executive orders he signed. It starts by asking, “Did the Amazon Washington Post take the summer off?”
White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham also tweeted the video, writing, “The WH provided @washingtonpost more than TWO DOZEN examples of all @realDonaldTrump has done over the summer, but they chose to put out a hit piece full of opinion rather than fact.”
The video, titled “Summer of Winning,” ends with the official White House logo.
The Post’s lengthy story notes Trump’s response to the spate of mass shootings and several controversies he stirred up, including his attacks against four congresswomen of color known as “the Squad” and his tweets lashing out at Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) and his district that includes parts of Baltimore.
The story also points out that the White House gave the news outlet a list of accomplishments Trump achieved over the summer, as Grisham notes in her tweet.
The video follows a tweet from Trump on Monday in which he knocks the Post over the story.
Trump often slams news coverage that he considers unfriendly as “fake news.” He frequently targets both the Post and its owner, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, claiming that the newspaper is a lobbying arm for the technology and e-commerce giant.
