E. Jean Carroll details alleged assault by Trump in new interview: ‘It was a fight’

Longtime author and columnist E. Jean Carroll on Monday shared details of her alleged rape by President Trump before he was in the White House, describing a violent interaction between the two in a department store in the mid-1990s. 

“He just went at it. He pulled down my tights and it was a fight,” Carroll said in an appearance on CNN. “I want women know that I did not stand there, I did not freeze, I was not paralyzed, which is a reaction could have had because it’s so shocking. No, I fought.” 

{mosads}Carroll came forward with her allegations Friday in an article published by New York magazine, where she details various instances of sexual assault or attempted assault throughout her life. Trump has denied the allegations. 

Carroll said she was not ready to share her experience during Trump’s campaign, having still blamed herself for the alleged attack.

“If I was going to come forward I’d have to say I was stupid, I was a nitwit, I allowed this, so my frame of mind was not the best,” she said. 

She also acknowledged the 15 women who did come forward with allegations against Trump during the campaign. 

“They were doing the job, they were coming forward, an army of women, were coming forward, so I sat back,” she said. 

Trump told reporters Saturday that Carroll’s accusation is “totally false.” 

Carroll alleges she followed Trump into a dressing room, thinking she would make a joke out of his suggestion she try on lingerie he wanted to purchase as a gift. She had planned to tell him to try it on. 

“The minute he closed the door, I was banged up against that wall,” she said on CNN, adding he hit her head hard against the wall. 

“The thing is it shocked me. For a moment I was stunned, and then he tried to kiss me,” she said. 

Carroll alleges Trump then put his penis inside her, before she was able to fight him off and run. 

“It was over very quickly. It was against my will, 100 percent, and I ran away, out,” she said. 

Trump has vehemently denied all allegations of sexual misconduct, and the White House has said that the women accusing him are lying.

Carroll worked for years as an advice columnist for Elle magazine. She has written five books, including “What Do We Need Men For?: A Modest Proposal,” which will be released next month.
