Conway casts doubt on key Trump quote in Mueller report

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway on Saturday questioned a part of the Mueller report that says President Trump declared it “the end of my presidency” when he learned of Robert Mueller’s appointment as special counsel in 2017.

During an appearance on Fox News’s “Justice with Judge Jeanine,” Conway denied ever hearing Trump “utter those words,” adding that “that is not the way he speaks.”

{mosads}”I have never heard him one time say, ‘This is the end of my candidacy. This is the end of my presidency.’ I have never heard him utter those words, and we have been in pretty impossible, tough situations together. That is not the way he speaks,” she said.

“He has weathered some pretty impossible situations that would have broken another man or another woman, perhaps. And all the while giving us the best economy that some of us have ever seen,” Conway added.

The special counsel’s final report, released Thursday, said Trump responded to the appointment of Mueller by saying he was “f—ed.”

“Oh my God. This is terrible. This is the end of my Presidency. I’m f—ed,” he said, according to the report.

“Everyone tells me if you get one of these independent counsels it ruins your presidency. It takes years and years and I won’t be able to do anything. This is the worst thing that ever happened to me,” Trump reportedly added.
