Trump hits the links with golfer Lexi Thompson

President Trump hit the golf course Saturday in West Palm Beach, Fla., alongside professional golfer Lexi Thompson, a 10-time winner on the LPGA Tour.

White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters said in a statement that Trump “is playing a round of golf with the renowned golfer Lexi Thompson” at Trump International Golf Club while offering no other details.

{mosads}White House pool reports stated that the president had no public events scheduled for the day and was greeted upon departing his Mar-a-Lago resort by supporters carrying signs reading “in Trump we trust” and other slogans.

Thompson, who also competed in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, has career earnings of more than $8.5 million, according to the LPGA’s website.

The president has frequently hit the links with professional golfers at his Florida course, including legends such as Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods and others such as Jim Herman, Daniel Berger and Justin Thomas.

Nicklaus made headlines in 2016 for his support of Trump, telling CBS News that he appreciated Trump for “awakening the country.”

“I like what Donald has done,” Nicklaus said at the time. “He’s turning America upside down. [He’s] awakening the country.”

“Is he as smooth and as politically correct as he should be? Probably not, but he’ll learn. He’s not stupid. He didn’t get where he was being dumb,” he added.
