Christie: Cohen remark would ‘send a chill up my spine at the White House’

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) said Wednesday that a particular remark Michael Cohen made during his testimony in front of Congress would “send a chill up my spine at the White House.”

“The words that he said today that would send a chill up my spine at the White House would be, ‘I am in constant contact with the southern district,'” Christie said on ABC News.

Attorneys in the Southern District of New York (SDNY) are in the midst of several investigations related to President Trump.

{mosads}The Southern District’s investigation into Michael Cohen, Trump’s former attorney, resulted in him pleading guilty to bank fraud, tax fraud and campaign finance violations.

Cohen has been sentenced to three years in prison for those crimes, as well as a charge of lying to Congress.

During Wednesday’s testimony, Cohen told lawmakers on the House Oversight and Reform Committee that he is aware of additional illegal acts committed by President Trump, but could not elaborate because they related to an ongoing SDNY investigation.

Cohen added that he is in “constant contact with the Southern District of New York regarding ongoing investigations.”

He will appear on Thursday behind closed doors before the House Intelligence Committee.
