DeVos recovering from broken pelvis, hip socket after bicycle accident

Education Secretary Betsy DeVos is in a wheelchair as she recovers from a recent bicycle accident that broke her pelvis and hip socket.

DeVos was in a wheelchair Thursday during her first public appearance since the accident, Politico reported. She was speaking at an entrepreneurship event in Washington.

{mosads}“Very painful,” she said of her injuries. “But it will heal. I just have to stay off of it for quite a few weeks, so I’m getting around with other means.”

Education press secretary Liz Hill said in a statement to The Hill on Thursday that the accident happened over the holidays.

DeVos is back in the office full time and “doing well,” Hill said.

The Trump Cabinet member underwent surgery earlier this month to repair the broken bone.
