White House deputy chief receiving millions from Fox in severance pay

White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications Bill Shine received millions of dollars from Fox News Channel’s parent company with millions more on the way, according to financial disclosure forms released Friday.

The report showed Shine received $8.4 million in severance pay from 21st Century Fox and will receive additional payments amounting to $7 million in 2018 and 2019 as part of an agreement expiring on May 1.

{mosads}Shine left Fox News earlier this year following his mishandling of sexual harassment and discrimination allegations that brought down CEO Roger Ailes and anchor Bill O’Reilly. He joined the White House after his dismissal.

Fox News and the White House have had a close working relationship since Trump’s inauguration in 2017. The president granted Fox News personalities a disproportionate number of exclusive interviews compared with other networks and has praised the channel’s coverage. Fox News has heaped praise on the president’s performance during the first two years of his tenure.

The administration has also hired a number of high-profile Fox contributors to fill significant roles, including State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert and national security adviser John Bolton.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Hill.
