President Trump remarked about Alec Baldwin’s arrest on Friday moments after news emerged that the actor had been taken into custody in New York.
“I wish him luck,” Trump told reporters on the South Lawn of the White House.
The 60-year-old actor was arrested following a dispute over a parking spot, authorities in New York City told The Hill.
Police said that an argument over a parking spot led to a man allegedly being punched after getting the disputed space.{mosads}
Baldwin was taken into custody and charges are pending as the investigation continues, according to police.
Trump has previously feuded with the Emmy Award-winning actor over his portrayal of the president on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” calling it “terrible.”
The president’s eldest son Donald Trump Jr. blasted Baldwin amid news of his arrest on Friday, calling him a “piece of garbage.”
“He’s a lib so he gets chance after chance to be decent but always fails!” Trump Jr. tweeted.
Asked about Baldwin’s “SNL” future and whether he would appear on the show this week, an NBC spokesperson said the network would not be commenting.
A representative for the actor did not immediately return a request for comment.
