Hillary Clinton on Sunday said her husband “absolutely” should not have resigned following the Monica Lewinsky scandal, saying that Lewinsky was an adult when she had an affair with former President Bill Clinton.

CBS’s Tony Dokoupil on “Sunday Morning” noted that some are saying Bill Clinton should have resigned after an investigation found he lied about his 1990s affair with the then-White House intern.

{mosads}”In retrospect, do you think Bill should’ve resigned in the wake of the Monica Lewinsky scandal?” Dokoupil asked Hillary Clinton.

“Absolutely not,” she replied.

“It wasn’t an abuse of power?” Dokoupil asked, to which Clinton said, “No. No.”

Dokoupil continued to press Clinton, saying, “There are people who look at the incidents of the ’90s and they say, ‘A president of the United States cannot have a consensual relationship with an intern; the power imbalance is too great.’ ”

“Who was an adult,” Clinton said, then pivoted to a discussion of the multiple sexual misconduct allegations against President Trump.

Lewinsky was a 22-year-old intern at the White House when the affair began. Bill Clinton was 49 and president at the time.

The House voted to impeach Bill Clinton for lying under oath about the affair.

In the wake of the #MeToo movement, the Clintons have faced increased scrutiny over their treatment of Lewinsky and the other four women who accused Bill Clinton of sexual harassment and assault.

Hillary Clinton during the interview said she played “no role” in undermining the character of the women who came out against her husband.

“I take responsibility for my life and my actions,” she said.

The Clintons are embarking on a nationwide tour, where they will discuss their life in politics and current events.
