Fox Business correspondent rips Trump for his ‘utter bull s—‘ after Trump made false GDP claim

Fox Business senior correspondent Charles Gasparino on Tuesday criticized President Trump’s penchant for offering false information, asking in a tweet, “when was the last time [D]onald said something that [wasn’t] filled with utter bull shit?”

Gasparino’s tweet referenced Trump’s incorrect assertion that gross domestic product (GDP) growth had exceeded the nation’s unemployment rate for the first time in 100 years.

It was actually the first time in 10 years that the GDP growth rate was above the unemployment rate, a fact corrected at a White House briefing on Monday by Kevin Hassett, chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers (CEA).

Trump offered the bit of misinformation during a series of tweets touting the economy.

“The GDP Rate (4.2%) is higher than the Unemployment Rate (3.9%) for the first time in over 100 years!” Trump tweeted.

{mosads}Hours later, Hassett said during a White House briefing that the GDP rate was higher than the unemployment rate for the first time in a decade. He noted that he wasn’t sure who gave Trump the inaccurate information.

“The history of thought of how errors happen is not something that I can engage in. Like, from the initial fact to what the president said, I don’t know the whole chain of command,” Hassett said. “But what is true is that it’s the highest in 10 years, and at some point somebody probably conveyed it to him, adding a zero to that, and they shouldn’t have done that.”

Gasparino has repeatedly criticized Trump throughout his presidency. In July, he fired back at Trump’s attacks against anonymous sources by saying that the president used to be one of his over the years.
