Former Fox News exec Bill Shine in talks to join White House: reports

Bill Shine, the former co-president of Fox News, is in talks to become the next White House communications director, according to multiple reports.

Shine, who was ousted from the network last year for his handling of sexual harassment scandals at the network, has reportedly met with President Trump in recent weeks about the position.

The New York Times reported that Trump has already offered Shine the job, but the move has not yet been finalized. A White House spokesperson did not immediately respond to The Hill’s request for comment.

The communications director job has remained vacant since Hope Hicks left the White House in March.

Shine resigned from Fox News in May 2017 after becoming embroiled in the sexual harassment scandal surrounding the network’s former chairman Roger Ailes. Ailes died last year, months after resigning from Fox News.

Shine is also close to conservative Fox News host Sean Hannity, who is also a confidant of Trump. The three men have spent time at the president’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Fla., in recent months, Politico reported.
