Trump: Why isn’t DOJ turning over Russia documents?
President Trump on Monday questioned why the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI have not provided House Republicans with requested documents related to the Russia investigation.
“I have tried to stay uninvolved with the Department of Justice and FBI (although I do not legally have to), because of the now totally discredited and very expensive Witch Hunt currently going on,” the president wrote on Twitter. “But you do have to ask why the DOJ & FBI aren’t giving over requested documents?”

The tweet from the president comes after Speaker Paul Ryan’s (R-Wis.) spokeswoman told The Associated Press that the Justice Department provided House Republicans with over 1,000 documents related to both the Russia probe and the investigation of former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.
AshLee Strong told the AP that the Justice Department will receive extra time to provide other “outstanding items.” Republicans in the lower chamber had given the bureau and the department until last Friday to deliver the documents, according to The AP report.
Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) on Saturday argued the FBI and Justice Department had not “been forthcoming with Congress.”
“New reports of DOJ/FBI compliance with document requests are NOT accurate. While they have turned over additional documents, the new documents represent a small percentage of what they owe,” Meadows wrote on Twitter. “The notion that DOJ/FBI have been forthcoming with Congress is false,” he added.
The president has repeatedly referred to special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russia’s election meddling and any potential ties between Trump campaign staff members and Moscow as a “witch hunt.”
