Giuliani: FBI’s Clinton probe ‘the most screwed up investigation’ I’ve seen
President Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani said Friday that the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server may be “the most screwed up” probe he has seen.
“I think the Hillary investigation could be the most screwed up investigation I’ve ever seen,” Giuliani told The Hill’s “Rising.”
{mosads}The comments from Giuliani, who joined the president’s legal team in April, come after the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report Thursday that criticized the FBI for its conduct in the course of the probe into Clinton’s private server during the 2016 presidential election.
The report found that former FBI Director James Comey, whom Trump dismissed last May, deviated from FBI guidelines by hosting a July 2016 press conference in which he criticized Clinton and said the FBI would not bring charges against her for mishandling classified information.
Giuliani has argued the inspector general’s report shows special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe should end.
“They should end it. I mean, the IG report basically tells you that both prongs of the Mueller investigation are either corrupt or answered,” Giuliani told “Fox & Friends” Friday morning.
“This report is a complete and absolute explanation of why Comey had to be fired, so how could it be obstruction of justice?” Giuliani added.
In his interview with “Rising,” Giuliani said the FBI is “not totally corrupt by any means,” but said “political operatives” should not be at the top of the bureau.
