Trump eyes oil prices: ‘OPEC is at it again’

President Trump focused on high oil prices in a tweet on Wednesday, again laying blame on OPEC. 

“Oil prices are too high, OPEC is at it again. Not good!” the president said. 

 

The president has in the past been vocal about his dissatisfaction with oil prices. 

“Looks like OPEC is at it again. With record amounts of Oil all over the place, including the fully loaded ships at sea, Oil prices are artificially Very High! No good and will not be accepted!” Trump tweeted in April. 

 

 

{mosads}Bloomberg and Reuters reported last week that Trump requested that OPEC members, such as Saudi Arabia, increase their oil production. 

However,  OPEC’s president, Suhail Al Mazrouei, said on Tuesday that the U.S. has not asked the group to increase oil production following political unrest in oil-rich Venezuela and U.S. sanctions on Iran. 

“The U.S. is important to us, but … we have not received any official communication, or even unofficial communication, from the administration,” he told CNN

OPEC and various non-OPEC oil producers are set to convene in Vienna later in the month to discuss future production. 

Oil prices dropped on Wednesday as a result of increased supplies in the U.S.
