Trump: I hope IG’s report on Clinton, Comey is not being made ‘weaker’

President Trump said in an early morning tweet on Tuesday that he hopes the inspector general’s report on his former rival, Hillary Clinton, and former FBI Director James Comey is not being delayed to make it “weaker.”

“What is taking so long with the Inspector General’s Report on Crooked Hillary and Slippery James Comey.” the president said. “Numerous delays. Hope Report is not being changed and made weaker! There are so many horrible things to tell, the public has the right to know. Transparency!”

Trump was referring to a probe  by the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) internal watchdog into the FBI’s handling of the investigation into Clinton’s emails while Comey was leading the bureau.

{mosads}Inspector General Michael Horowitz told lawmakers last month that a draft of the report was finished.

It is expected to be critical of Comey for taking various actions, including his announcement in July 2016 recommending that charges not be filed against Clinton.

Comey did not tell the DOJ about the announcement prior to making it.

The president has torn into the DOJ in recent days, specifically for its role in special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russia’s election meddling and alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Moscow.

Trump revealed last week that he wished he picked someone other than Attorney General Jeff Sessions to run the department.

Sessions earned Trump’s ire after he recused himself from the Russia probe.
