Trump nominating conservative filmmaker to lead news-distributing agency

President has tapped the former head of the Claremont Institute, a conservative think tank, to run the Broadcasting Board of Governors.

The White House on Friday announced its plans to nominate Michael Pack to lead the agency, which oversees Voice of America, Middle East Broadcasting Networks and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

{mosads}Pack currently serves as the president of Manifold Productions, Inc., a production and film company he founded. According to the biography on his production company’s website, he served as the CEO of Claremont between 2015 and 2017, when he also was the Claremont Review of Books publisher.

The broadcasting board’s mission, according to its website, “is to inform, engage and connect people around the world in support of freedom and democracy.” 

It boasts 287 million listeners each week through its various broadcasters on its website.

Pack sat on the National Council on the Humanities during former President George W. Bush’s administration.
