Trump: Early reports of Texas school shooting ‘not looking good’

Twitter

President Trump tweeted to his followers Friday about a school shooting in Santa Fe, Texas, where multiple people have reportedly been killed.

Trump tweeted late Friday morning that early reports from Texas were “not looking good” after police confirmed a gunman opened fire at Santa Fe High School. CNN reports that one suspect has been arrested and a second person was detained.

“School shooting in Texas. Early reports not looking good. God bless all!” the president wrote.

Friday’s shooting comes just two days after an Illinois school resource officer was hailed as a hero for stopping a gunman at a local high school this week.

Santa Fe High School, which sits about 30 miles southeast of Houston, has about 1,500 students, according to U.S. News and World Report.

The Santa Fe Independent School District issued a statement on the school’s website on Friday, confirming the shooting and an unknown number of injuries.

“This morning an incident occurred at the high school involving an active shooter. The situation is active, but has been contained. There have been confirmed injuries. Details will be released as we receive updated information,” it reads.
