Melania Trump’s popularity with Americans is surging, according to a new CNN/SSRS poll released Monday that found 57 percent have a favorable view of the first lady.
That’s an uptick from the 47 percent who held a favorable opinion of her in January.
{mosads}While 27 percent of respondents in the latest poll said they had an unfavorable opinion of Melania Trump, 14 percent said they did not have an opinion.
The first lady on Monday is slated to unveil her official initiatives, which a spokeswoman said will emphasize children’s well-being.
The first lady previously said she will focus her work on cyber bullying, a choice she received criticism for due to President Trump’s Twitter use. But Melania Trump earlier this year brushed off the criticism.
“It will not stop me from doing what I know is right,” she said in March. “I’m here with one goal: helping children in our next generation.”
A majority of both men and women in the new poll have a favorable view of the first lady. While 60 percent of men said they have a positive opinion of Melania Trump, 54 percent of women said they did.
The national survey of 1,015 individuals was conducted from May 2-5 by phone. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.6 percentage points.
