Sarah Sanders sees hypocrisy from Dems on CIA nominee
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders is accusing Democrats who support women’s empowerment but don’t support Gina Haspel’s nomination to be CIA director of being hypocrites.
“There is no one more qualified to be the first woman to lead the CIA than 30+ year CIA veteran Gina Haspel,” Sanders tweeted on Saturday. “Any Democrat who claims to support women’s empowerment and our national security but opposes her nomination is a total hypocrite.”

President Trump nominated Haspel, who is serving as acting director, to lead the CIA in March. She would be the first woman to run the agency.

Some Democrats have already voiced opposition to her nomination.
Although Haspel is reportedly well-regarded within the CIA, her reported role in CIA black sites is likely to be the focus of her confirmation hearing.
She has also been accused of being involved in an order to destroy 92 tapes that had evidence the CIA was torturing prisoners.
Her confirmation hearing is set to begin on May 9.
