Lobbyist’s wife pays fine for renting DC condo to Pruitt without a license

The wife of the heath care lobbyist who rented a condominium to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt for $50 a night last summer paid a $2,034 fine on Friday for renting the property without the proper license, Politico reported.

“The owner agreed to pay the fine for engaging in a business without a housing residential license,” a D.C. Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs spokesman told Politico.

Pruitt rented a Washington, D.C., condo from Vicki Hart for $50 a night for a few months last year.

Recent reporting uncovered that Pruitt has taken at least one meeting with Hart’s husband, Stephen Hart, who has worked as an energy lobbyist. He also reportedly recommended three people for EPA positions.

Pruitt, who is also under scrutiny for expenditures and ties to other lobbyists, denied any impropriety in the arrangement.
