GOP rep: Trump tweets on Muller aren’t ‘helpful at all’

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) said on Tuesday that President Trump’s tweets about special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election are not helpful.

“I don’t think it’s helpful at all. Whenever you tweet, there can be trouble,” Kinzinger told CNN. “Especially when it is a tweet based out of kind of what is going on at the moment. So I wish he didn’t.”

The congressman’s remarks came shortly after Trump tweeted that “attorney-client privilege is dead” and said Mueller’s investigation was “a total witch hunt.”

On Monday, FBI agents raided the office and hotel room of Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen after receiving a referral from Mueller.

The search did not appear to be directly related to Mueller’s investigation but likely resulted from information that the special counsel’s team uncovered and handed over to New York prosecutors.

“For me, I just want to say, at the end when we get answers, we’ll figure it out from there,” Kinzinger added.

Kinzinger said that he does not view Mueller’s actions as an attack on the country.

“Justice needs to be served in whatever capacity, so it’s not an attack on our country,” he said.
