Trump team gets low ratings from public: poll

President Trump’s top appointees received tough ratings from the public in a new CNN poll.

Half of the people polled said Trump’s appointments are less qualified than the officials who previously held their positions, compared to just 24 percent who said they were more qualified.

Forty percent of people said Trump’s appointments are more likely to misuse taxpayer money, compared to 33 percent who said they were less likely than previous appointees to misuse taxpayer money.

{mosads}More than half of people said the Trump team is less likely to understand the problems of ordinary Americans and 48 percent believe that they are more likely to use their positions for personal gain.

People were split on whether Trump’s team provides a “fresh perspective” and whether they would cut government spending and the bureaucracy.

The poll follows a number of personnel changes in the Trump administration. Trump’s top economic adviser Gary Cohn resigned earlier this month, and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was fired shortly after.

National security adviser H.R. McMaster will step down next month and be replaced by John Bolton.

In recent weeks, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson has faced criticism for his department’s order of $31,000 dining room set — although Carson claims he wasn’t aware of the order. Other Cabinet officials have been criticized for their flight expenses.

The poll of 1,014 people, conducted March 22-25, has a 3.7 point margin of error.
