Stormy Daniels lawyer: People have offered to pay $1 million penalty for her to speak out

Adult-film star Stormy Daniels’s lawyer said on Saturday that at least 10 people have offered to cover the $1 million penalty she would be subject to for breaking her nondisclosure agreement regarding her alleged affair with President Trump.

Daniels’s lawyer, Michael Avenatti, told CNN’s Michael Smerconish that no California court would enforce the $1 million penalty for “every episode that she goes out and speaks in violation of the confidentiality.”

Asked if anyone has offered to pay her penalty to allow her to tell her story, Avenatti said “at least 10 individuals in the last three days alone” have offered.

He noted that Daniels, whose legal name is Stephanie Clifford, is not considering any of the offers at the moment.

Daniels sued Trump last week, saying that the nondisclosure agreement regarding their alleged affair was void because Trump hadn’t signed the document, and his lawyer, Michael Cohen, has publicly spoken about the agreement.

Cohen acknowledged last month that he used his personal funds to pay Daniels $130,000 in October 2016, but did not say what the payment was for.

He argued that his payment did not violate any campaign finance laws.

Avenatti has said it’s “absolutely laughable” that Trump was unaware of the agreement.

The White House has denied that the president had a relationship with Daniels.
