President Trump on Friday ignored questions from reporters during a meeting with Rwanda’s president about his reported comments referring to African nations as “shithole countries.”

Trump, who is attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, did not answer questions on whether he and President Paul Kagame discussed the comments, according to a White House pool report.

Kagame serves as the chairman of the African Union, which slammed Trump for the reported remarks earlier this month.

{mosads}The group, which is comprised of 55 African countries, said Trump’s comments “dishonor the celebrated American creed and respect for diversity and human dignity,” adding that the Trump administration has a “huge misunderstanding” of Africa.

The Washington Post first reported Trump used the language during an Oval Office meeting on immigration with a bipartisan group of senators.

The president also reportedly suggested the U.S. should work to bring in more immigrants from countries such as Norway.

Critics dubbed the comments as racist, as Norway is a majority white country.

Trump said in a tweet after the reports surfaced that he had used tough language during the meeting.
