Trump to visit FBI academy after criticism of intelligence community

President Trump will visit the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va., on Friday, where he will take part in the institution’s graduation ceremony.

The visit comes after he blasted the bureau’s reputation, saying it was “in tatters” and “the worst in history” earlier this month, prompting backlash.

Tensions between the FBI and the president have been on the rise since he fired former FBI Director James Comey in May.

Former FBI special agent Frank Montoya Jr. described relations between Trump and the intelligence community in an interview earlier this month.

“There is a lot of anger in the FBI — the entire intelligence community, for that matter — over how this president will say nary a negative word about the Russians, but will insult us every chance he gets,” Montoya said.
