President Trump’s nominee for a top United Nations post shared a number of controversial memes and praised conservative provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos on Facebook.
CNN’s KFILE team reported that Patrick Murray, who is Trump’s pick for alternate representative for special political affairs to the U.N., praised Yiannopoulos’s comments slamming campus “safe spaces” and how voting for Brexit would stop Muslim immigration into the U.K.
“Clone this guy,” Murray wrote in one post.
Murray also shared several political memes that targeted Democrats. One referred to Rev. Al Sharpton as a “race baiter,” while another suggested Sharpton and former President Obama were to blame for inciting riots.
{mosads}The posts were all shared on Murray’s personal Facebook account, and are all visible to the public.
In a post one month before the 2016 election, Murray shared a video of Hillary Clinton and called her a “corrupt, decrepit old candidate” in his caption. Another post attacked Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) as a “pasty liberal pajama boy.”
Murray’s nomination has been advanced by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, but he has yet to be confirmed by the full Senate.
