Mulvaney: I doubt there will be ‘significant change’ to White House view on corporate taxes

White House budget chief Mick Mulvaney said Sunday that he does not foresee the administration making “any significant change” to its position on the corporate tax rate. 

“If something small happens in conference that gets us across the finish line, we’ll look at it on a case-by-case basis,” Mulvaney told CBS’s “Face the Nation” when asked about President Trump’s suggestion of a 22 percent corporate tax rate. That would be a jump from the 20 percent in the Senate’s bill. 

{mosads}“But I don’t think you’ll see any significant change in our position on the corporate taxes,” Mulvaney maintained.

Trump floated the possibility of a 22 percent corporate rate in comments to reporters on Saturday morning. Both the House and Senate bills have cut the corporate tax rate to 20 percent.

“We’ll see what ultimately comes out,” Trump said.

The remarks from Trump and Mulvaney come after the Senate early Saturday passed its own version of legislation to overhaul the tax code. The House passed a tax bill last month and the two versions will head to conference before getting to Trump’s desk.
