Hope Hicks named Trump’s third White House communications director

Hope Hicks, a longtime aide to President Trump, will become the new White House communications director.

Hicks, who is Trump’s director of strategic communications, had been appointed last month to serve as interim White House communications director after the firing of Anthony Scaramucci.

Officials at the White House confirmed the appointment, which was first reported by NBC News

Hicks is a longtime associate of Trump’s who previously worked for the Trump Organization.

She’s been a gatekeeper for Trump during the campaign and since his election and is seen as a part of the president’s inner circle.

The former model has generally kept a low profile at the White House, rarely giving interviews. She also does not appear on cable news representing the president.

Trump’s first communications director, Mike Dubke, lasted just a few months on the job. Scaramucci, his replacement, lasted less than two weeks.

Trump has been remaking his White House communications team. Sarah Huckabee Sanders replaced Sean Spicer as press secretary in July.
