Rupert Murdoch urged Trump to fire Bannon: report

Rupert Murdoch, the acting CEO of Fox News, reportedly advised President Trump to fire his chief strategist, former Breitbart News executive Stephen Bannon.

The New York Times on Monday reported that Murdoch pushed Trump to oust Bannon during a recent White House dinner.

Trump did not reject the advice, the report said, and expressed his own issues with one of his top advisers.

{mosads}News of Murdoch’s effort to have Bannon removed comes amid reports saying Trump suspects that Bannon is behind White House leaks about other staffers, including national security adviser H.R. McMaster.

Bannon has been under fire in recent days.

On Sunday, former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci questioned if Bannon was effective in serving the president’s agenda.

And McMaster dodged questions about whether he could work with Bannon.
