President Trump on Tuesday said he is “working hard” to get the Olympics to the U.S.
“Working hard to get the Olympics for the United States (L.A.),” Trump tweeted Tuesday.
“Stay tuned!”
{mosads}Trump’s tweet comes after Los Angeles presented its plan for hosting the Olympics to International Olympics Committee (IOC) members, USA Today reported.
The team, led by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, presented its plan regarding hosting the 2024 Olympics in the city.
“(This team) has presented I think the strongest bid in modern Olympic history,” Garcetti said at a news conference.
The IOC will vote on a proposal later Tuesday to name two winners in the race for host city between Los Angeles and Paris, according to the Los Angeles Times.
One city could end up hosting the 2024 Olympics and the other would host the 2028 competition.
Trump’s tweet also comes amid reports that his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., met with a lawyer linked to Russia during the presidential campaign.
The New York Times reported late Monday that Trump Jr. was told before his meeting with Natalia Veselnitskaya that the damaging information promised about Hillary Clinton was part of a Russian government effort to help his father’s presidential campaign.
